The purpose of the "Bod Péter" Library Supporters' Association, established at the end of 2018, is to contribute to the organization of cultural activities and events of public libraries in Covasna County, namely, in a predilect way, of the "Bod Péter Péter" County Library (BJBP) in Sfântu Gheorghe. The financial, organizational and logistical support enables BJBP to better fulfill its obligations as a public library of regional importance, formulated in mission of the institution.
The objectives of the "Bod Péter" Library Supporters' Association are the following:
- to support the creation of new library services and the development of existing ones;
- to support lifelong learning opportunities for all members of the community, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender or occupation;
- continued development of BJBP's role in informing and providing access to reading;
- development of inter-ethnic relations; promoting mutual knowledge of languages and cultures;
- promotion and development of professional and organizational relationships with individuals and organizations at national and international levels;
- applying for grants and non-reimbursable funding, designed to meet these objectives;
- financial contribution to events and projects (meetings, presentations, conferences, competitions, camps, workshops, etc.) organized by BJBP, by obtaining income from sponsorships and other financial sources permitted by law;
- financial contribution to the purchase of books, periodicals, audio-visual documents, equipment necessary for carrying out library activities and library furniture;
- contribution to the training of librarians and administrative staff by granting scholarships for participation in professional meetings, as well as encouraging and promoting various forms of self-improvement;
- producing publications to promote activities organized in partnership with the BJBP;
- supporting the publication of works of a cultural and intercultural nature, especially in the field of library science and local-regional history.
