The Library Fund

According to statistical data from the 31st of December, 2020, our library disposes of a fund of 253 502 documents in Hungarian, Romanian and other languages. 21 000 of it belong to the fund of the branch library and the rest can be found on the premises of the headquarters. The majority of the fund – 249 986 documents – is formed of books and periodicals. The rest – 3512 – is constituted of electronic documents (audiovisuals, CDs, DVDs and CD-ROMs).

These documents are arranged systematically and are kept on shelves and in the warehouse. The documents can be identified with the help of signs called quotas, which refer to the combination between a Roman and an Arabic digit, or to the one of Arabic numbers and letters.

Shelved documents can be requested directly by readers or users. The ones from the warehouse can be requested through filling in a form consisting of the quota, the author and the title of the desired document.

The documents from the fund of the adult and children's loan sections are available on shelves and are grouped on themes. The documents in the reading room can be found in the warehouse.
